Lochside Theatre - Programming Policy
Financial considerations are a major factor, not only in meeting fees of 'received productions' but also in the operating costs of the theatre. Fortunately as we are all volunteers we have no staff costs - but we are finding it increasingly difficult to achieve the number of volunteers required to not depend on a small group for most events.
There have been some fairly protracted discussions among our management committee regarding future programming policy in general.
The outcome of the discussions are:
We will be primarily booking any 'received production' a on a box-office split basis and that anticipated income would meet running costs ie we are quite happy to break even with perhaps a small profit but can not sustain multiple losses. We appreciate that this is neither ideal or practical for some Theatre Companies, Artistes, Musicians etc but it is the stance we have found it currently necessary to adopt.
Our apologies if this seems overly officious but we need to present the Management Committee's programming policy.
