Mary Barclay and Doug Carroll are well known on the local music scene, having joined forces in the mid-nineties, performing their own electrifying versions of rock classics with the Sensational Mary Barclay Band.

Several years down the line and Mary and Doug are writing and performing their own music but it’s much less about rock and roll hysteria and more to do with personal musical fulfilment. 
Lochside Theatre is the perfect place to hear them at their very best.  Mary’s rich and sincere vocals teamed with Doug’s passion for guitar provide the right backdrop for their profound, heartfelt lyrics and music.    With a nod to Joni Mitchell and a hint of James Taylor in the mix, it’s hard to be unmoved by their songs of love, forgiveness, frustrations and hope.

Their songs have gained recognition and with ‘Blackbird,’ the couple were named among the winners of the prestigious Burnsong Gathering in 2007 – a national competition to find and promote the best new songwriting talent in Scotland.  Since then they have performed live on BBC Radio Scotland and at Celtic Connections.

As well as fine music, however, there is enchanting chemistry and warm hearted banter between Mary and Doug and perhaps even a wee story or two to tell……
